With clubs across Europe taking a financial hit amid the coronavirus pandemic, the transfer market is now more important than ever. We've already seen some high-profile free transfers this summer: Dayot Upamecano signed Bayern Munich, Barcelona signed Sergio Aguero, Real Madrid signed David Alaba 1win-az.net , and PSG have called Gini Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos. There are several other talented players who are in the free float, including one Lionel Messi. We didn't include it here for obvious reasons, but it's a pretty good list without it.
1. Andy Carroll
When Andy Carroll left Newcastle for the first time, he should have been Liverpool's star striker, especially since £35m was a must. Ten years later, he left St James' Park as an underdog. Carroll has only made eight Premier League appearances since returning to Newcastle and is now looking for a new club. He may have to drop down to the Championship, although there remains some interest from teams like Burnley.
2. David Luis
For a long time it seemed that Arsenal would offer David Luiz a new deal, but ultimately the Gunners changed their minds. So the Brazilian defender is looking for new employers as he continues to recover from his knee injury. The centre-back will turn 35 next season and is unlikely to receive more than a one-year contract with a Premier League club. Possible move to Turkey, although it is believed that Marseille is also interested.3. Diego Costa has been a free agent for seven months now, having agreed to terminate his contract with Atlético Madrid in December. A return to the Premier League is unlikely, although Wolverhampton have shown interest as the club of Jorge Mendes.4. Patrick van Anholt
While the likes of Joel Ward and Andros Townsend had to wait a bit before deciding on their future, Patrick van Aanholt knew he wouldn't stay at Crystal Palace a few months before his contract expired on June 30. The Dutchman represented his country at Euro 2020 but has no employer at club level. A move to Italy is a possibility in the near future as Inter, Lazio and Milan have been eyeing him for a long time. But he also has fans in the Premier League.
